When you sign it
After your free storm inspection finds damage and you file a claim with your insurance company, you give your claim number and policy number to your Patriot Roofing specialist. We prepare the contingency agreement from those, and you sign it before the adjuster comes out.
What it says
- We work the claim with you. You agree for Patriot Roofing to come out and meet your adjuster, and to talk on the phone with the adjuster or others at your insurance company about the damage, as needed.
- If your claim is approved, you hire Patriot Roofing. The agreement says that, if the claim is approved, Patriot Roofing does and completes the work.
- If your claim is not approved, it costs you nothing. The work we did on the claim is at no cost to you.
- If the claim is approved and you choose not to use Patriot Roofing, you pay the invoice for the work we performed on the claim, the amount listed in your agreement. It is typically $1,500.
Why it matters to have your specialist at the adjuster visit
Ask your insurance company for a licensed insurance adjuster, not a third-party inspector: an inspector takes photos but has no authority to decide whether there is storm damage. Many adjusters are not construction experts, and some have never worked in roofing. When your Patriot Roofing specialist is on the roof with the adjuster, we point out the damage slope by slope (north, south, east and west) and on the soft metals, such as vents and turbines, pipe boot flashings, gutters and fascia, with photos and markings. Damage that nobody points out can be missed. The coverage decision is still your insurer's.
The second agreement: the construction agreement
Once your claim is approved, you sign a construction agreement. It covers the insurance work Patriot Roofing is doing and any upgrades you choose, such as a higher package. Your deductible, your upgrades and the whole roof can be financed if you want, with approved credit.
What it does not cover
- A reinspection. If your claim is denied and we believe there is enough damage to ask for a reinspection, the reinspection package has its own cost, paid by you. What a reinspection involves.
- Negotiating your settlement. We document damage and write estimates and supplements for the work. We do not act as your public adjuster, and your insurer decides coverage.
Your agreement is the final word on your terms. Ask your Roofing Specialist to walk you through it before you sign, or call 501.441.2900.
Contingency agreement questions
What is a roofing contingency agreement?
An agreement you sign after you file a storm claim. It lets Patriot Roofing meet your adjuster and talk with the adjuster or others at your insurance company about the damage, and it says that if your claim is approved, you hire Patriot Roofing to do the work. If the claim is not approved, our work on the claim costs you nothing.
What does it cost if my claim is denied?
Nothing. If your claim is not approved, the work we did on the claim is at no cost to you. A reinspection package is separate and has its own cost.
What if my claim is approved and I use another contractor?
You pay Patriot Roofing for the work we performed on the claim, the amount listed in your contingency agreement. It is typically $1,500.
Is the contingency agreement the same as the construction agreement?
No. After approval you sign a second agreement, the construction agreement, which covers the insurance work Patriot Roofing will do and any upgrades you choose.
Does Patriot Roofing negotiate my insurance settlement?
No. We document and point out the damage, talk with the adjuster about it and write detailed estimates and supplements for the work. Your insurer decides coverage, and your claim stays between you and your insurance company.
