Why an Arkansas attic needs to breathe
On a summer afternoon the sun bakes your roof, and the heat soaks into the attic underneath. Attic Breeze says attic temperatures can often reach over 150 degrees in the summer. That heat sits on top of your ceiling and your ductwork, and your air conditioner has to work against it. Our humid summers add moisture to the air trapped up there.
A solar attic fan pushes that hot, damp air out and draws fresh air in through the vents under your eaves. Attic Breeze says the fan removes heat before it moves down into your living space, which lowers the temperature gap your air conditioner has to close. It does not replace insulation, air sealing or a properly sized air conditioner; it helps them do their job.

The fan we install: Attic Breeze Gen 3, 35 watt
- Powered by the sun: a 35-watt monocrystalline solar panel attached to the fan, adjustable toward the sun. No circuit, no electrician, no power bill.
- Moves a lot of air: Attic Breeze rates it at up to 1,775 cubic feet per minute in full sun.
- Built for the roof: a self-flashing base made for shingle roofs, so it seals into the roof like any other roof vent.

- Lifetime limited parts warranty from Attic Breeze on every Attic Breeze solar attic fan.
- Made in the USA, using domestic and foreign parts, according to Attic Breeze.

How many fans you need, and what they cost
We size one fan for every 1,700 square feet of attic floor, which is about the footprint of your top story. A one-story 2,000 square foot home needs about two fans; a two-story 3,000 square foot home, with about 1,500 square feet of attic, needs one. Each fan is $2,126 installed.

Why we check your intake first
An exhaust fan can only pull out the air that can get in. Attic Breeze says a fan needs at least as much intake area as it is rated to exhaust, usually through soffit vents under the eaves. Painted-over or insulation-blocked soffit vents leave the fan with nothing to pull from. At your visit we look at your attic, your intake and where the fan will get the most sun before we give you a written price. Read more about how attic airflow works in our attic ventilation guide.

Common questions
What does a solar attic fan do?
It pulls hot, damp air out of your attic and lets cooler outside air come in through the vents under your eaves. It runs on its own solar panel, so it needs no wiring and adds nothing to your power bill.
Which solar attic fan does Patriot install?
The Attic Breeze Gen 3, 35 watt fan from Attic Breeze. Attic Breeze rates it at up to 1,775 cubic feet per minute in full sun. It mounts on its own flashed base with the solar panel attached, and it comes with a thermal control and a fire safety switch.
How many solar attic fans does my house need?
We size one fan for every 1,700 square feet of attic floor. The attic floor is about the footprint of your top story. Attic Breeze says most homes take one fan per 1,200 to 1,800 square feet, depending on roof pitch, sun, the number of roof planes and the intake vents you have.
What does a solar attic fan cost?
$2,126 per fan, installed. Your written price is confirmed at a visit, after we check your attic, your intake vents and where the fan will get the most sun. Use our solar attic fan calculator to see the price for your home.
Do I need a new roof to add one?
No. We install solar attic fans on existing roofs. If you are replacing your roof, adding fans at the same time is the easiest way to do it, and you can add them right in our roof cost calculator.
Will a solar fan work if my attic has no soffit vents?
Not well. Attic Breeze says a fan needs at least as much intake as it is rated to exhaust, so air can come in to replace the air it pulls out. If your attic is short on intake, we will tell you and price that at your visit.
What warranty comes with an Attic Breeze fan?
Attic Breeze says every Attic Breeze solar attic fan carries a lifetime limited parts warranty from the manufacturer. We install it to Attic Breeze's instructions, so the warranty stays valid.
Can I finance solar attic fans?
Yes. Financing is available on every Patriot service, including solar attic fans, with approved credit.
