Are Roofing Estimates Free? What You Pay For and What You Don't

Most roofing estimates are free, but not all of them. At Patriot Roofing and Restoration, inspections for hail, wind and storm damage are free, and so are full roof replacement estimates. A repair visit is different: it costs $79.99, because it is a full diagnostic with our 21-Point Roof Inspection Report and attic analysis, and Patriot Care Club members pay no service fee. Here is what each visit includes, why repair visits often carry a fee across the industry, and how to tell a real estimate from a sales pitch.

What is free at Patriot

• Storm damage inspections. No charge for hail, wind and storm damage inspections, with a 21-point report and photos. If the damage is covered and you choose to file a claim, we can meet your insurance adjuster at your home.
• Roof replacement estimates. No charge for a full replacement estimate, also with the 21-point report and photos, and four package options priced side by side in writing.

What a repair visit costs, and why

A repair visit is $79.99. That covers the full 21-Point Roof Inspection Report and attic analysis, not just a quick look at the leak. You get the findings sorted into Need To Do, Should Do and Could Do, with the price for each repair from our published price book, so you know what is urgent and what can wait. Why charge for repairs when replacements are free? A replacement estimate leads to a large project, so the estimate is part of the cost of doing business. A repair visit takes the same truck, ladder and trained eyes for a job that may be a few hundred dollars, which is why many roofers charge a diagnostic fee for repairs. Ours buys you the full inspection, not just the one spot that is leaking.

Other inspections

If you need a written photo report to keep or share, for example when buying or selling a house, that is a separate service from our price book, as is a roof certification: a written statement of your roof's condition from a licensed roofer.

How to tell a real estimate from a sales pitch

• Someone gets on the roof, or flies it. Damage on a roof is rarely visible from the driveway.
• You see photos. You should see what they saw, not just hear about it.
• The price is in writing. Line by line or package by package, with what is included.
• No same-day pressure. "Sign today or the price goes up" is a red flag.

Do I have to sign anything to get a free estimate?
